I think it's so important that we have diverse books, and have been meaning to write a post on it for a while. Since this weeks Top Ten Tuesday is about diversity I thought this would be the perfect opportunity to do just that!
The following books feature:
- Ethnically diverse characters
- LGBT characters
- PoC main character
2. The Princess Diaries by Meg Cabot
4. Harry Potter by J.K. Rowling
5. Silver Phoenix by Cindy Pon
6. Eon by Alison Goodman
7. The Girl in the Ice by Robert Bryndza
8. Butterfly Sword by Jeannie Lin
9. The Bone Season by Samantha Shannon
10. An Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir
I should have added The Bone Season!
ReplyDeleteCheck out my TTT and my leg of the Forsworn Blog Tour.
Thanks for sharing. I haven't read most of these, but I agree, all types of diverse books are important.
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of these yet. Partials is on my TBR list, though. I should check out the other ones too.
ReplyDeleteSome great books on your list, I'm hiding to get to An Ember in the Ashes at some point soon. (my list)
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed Partials! :D
ReplyDeleteSeveral of these are on my to-read/wishlist. I'm especially eager to read Silver Phoenix!
Here's my top ten!
Great list, lady! I was very close to putting Top Ten Clues on mine as well.
ReplyDeleteI think I may read Stormdancer now that I loved Illuminae, but is there a triangle?? Will you DM me on Goodreads? haha
Gorgeous post Renu :D Thank you for sharing about these books. <3 Ugh, Stormdancer. It was perfect. And Yukiko is such an amazing character :) Thank you for sharing your awesome list. <3
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks for sharing, Renu :) Some of these have been on my tbr list for a while, while others I'll admit are completely new to me! I must try to introduce more diversity into my reading.
ReplyDeleteI've started to realize just how important diversity in books is! I'd love to add The Summer of Chasing Mermaids and Under A Painted Sky to the list :D TSoCM has a PoC MC, while UaPS has such a diverse cast. Lovely picks!
